[Heading to see some kouhais and then going home. Be back in an hour or so!]
I’m not going to name names because that would be mean and catty and… well, mean. Not to say I’m never one to offer constructive criticism, because I am, but I only offer when asked, as I feel should be the general rule. (But that’s just me. I think it’s awfully rude otherwise.)
They tend to be characters, though, who have been A.) granted power way beyond what they were given in canon, B.) changed so they are now basically unable to be hurt in any way, shape or fashion, C.) stripped away of any mental or emotional weaknesses, and so on and so forth.
This bothers me because THOSE CHARACTERS ARE TOO POWERFUL. There should be flaws, there should be weaknesses, there should be cracks in the armor, no matter how strong! And it shouldn’t just be “well they get mad easily” or “well they don’t like not being taken seriously” because those are often more character traits than character weaknesses, and the character remains overpowered.
The point I’m trying to make, I suppose, is that no matter who your character is, be it the Box Ghost or Mother Nature, there need to be flaws. Real, tangible weaknesses that can be seen and exploited. When you do not consistently keep reminding your readers or viewers or audience in general of this, the character begins to lose touch with that and they become overpowered.
And it’s really friggin’ annoying.]
[IT JUST REALLY ANNOYS ME BECAUSE ON THE ONE HAND I DO UNDERSTAND THAT CHARACTER A IS REALLY SUPER POWERFUL AND CAN DO A LOT BUT MAKING THEM UNABLE TO BE HARMED/IMMUNE TO LIKE EVERYTHING/PRETTY MUCH PERFECT ANNOYS ME A LOT]
"If you think I’m cute now, wait until you see me on my motorcycle." Found on a friend’s facebook page, posted by Frank Charriaut of the Mot’Art Journal (themotart-journal.com).
people who make canon characters overpowered and perfect BOTHER ME TO NO END]
I admit, I am an asshole. But I got a nice booty and my hair soft so I feel like I deserve the best like ????
I’ve found a spark,
and I’ll treasure it dearly
for it is my heart.
A fragment of dreams
and demons both
but I’ll always remember,
I control the smoke.
"Can I draw your OC?" has got to be one of the silliest questions I’ve ever heard.
I mean, OF COURSE you can draw them! Here, let me throw all my headcanons at you about every miniscule thing about their appearance and flail at you about how excited I am to see them drawn in your style. Don’t worry, I’ve already forwarded a ten page write up about their back story and personality to your inbox. You know, just in case you need it.
